Large oak burr bowl

£140.00
sold out

It's not often I come across such large pieces of oak burr in such great condition so to be able to turn this one was an absolute pleasure and quite a challenge as it was close to the maximum capacity of my lathe.

The underside of the bowl is the outside surface of the burr as it would have been when growing on the tree. The burr itself is quite pale making for a good contrast with the bark. By leaving the rim of the bowl quite thick the contrast has been highlighted.

The finish used on the bowl was a wax polish but it wasn't buffed to a high gloss as I felt this would spoil the overall appearance of the bowl.

Approx. sizes 16" x 14" x 5" high.
