This pot was known in the house as 'the dragons egg' for obvious reasons. The shape encouraged handling which has resulted in the patina you can see in the photograph.

The piece of elm burr used was paler than some I have seen and contrasts nicely with the bark both around the rim and as an inclusion in the wall of the pot.

Turned with a small foot the base has been left reasonably thick to ensure its stability.
